Passage Yolène-Jumelle provides an aesthetic and accessible route through a swath of the neighbourhood, offering direct access to the Triangle sector while respecting private residential areas.
With its asymmetrically patterned pavestones and greenery, the passageway feels like a trail, even though it is located in the city near Namur Métro station. Off-limits to vehicles, it offers a safe and pleasant way for pedestrians to get about, letting residents access the terrace of their local grocery store on foot. Strings of light create a cozy, intimate zone, a twinkling human-scale vault that offsets the surrounding towers. Residential courtyards are set back from the passageway, ensuring peace and privacy for their inhabitants, as well as prime access to this pedestrian corridor. Sustainability is at the heart of the project, for both the community and the environment. A judicious water management configuration directs rainfall towards absorbent plant beds. Overall, the Yolène-Jumelle passageway offers a practical and refreshing touch to the Triangle sector’s urban planning.
