Colorful geometric patterns on the sports courts

Parc de la Savane has been redeveloped to elevate the character of the urban neighbourhood. The sports facilities and community spaces blend in with the park’s natural and historic character, making it the leisure destination for the Triangle area.

The redesign of the park offers striking, well-demarcated activity zones. The splash pads and playgrounds have been retained, while the removal of the baseball field afforded the space for new features. These include a basketball court, a second smaller area for casually shooting hoops, and an outdoor exercise area with sleek, minimalist equipment. Colourful, geometric patterns on the courts impart a lively feeling. The addition of a dog park offers a practical and convivial space for canine friends and their owners, while a multi-use field provides areas for picnicking and spontaneous play. In moving the community garden to one end of the park, the neighbourhood’s green thumbs and their vegetables benefit from improved sunlight.

The park’s pavilion has been expanded to improve the range of services it offers citizens, including a grassy forecourt providing a welcome area for day camps. Ping-pong tables parallel to the street encourage passersby to stop and play. A small skating rink furnishes opportunities for winter fun. The mature vegetation throughout the park has been enhanced to bolster the value of the urban district, as do the many other improvements to the park.
