Coffee break on a bench in Ruelle L’Oasis

In the heart of Chabanel, a district with a strong manufacturing heritage, Ruelle L’Oasis transforms a former grassy strip into a place for workers to pause and connect in District Central, contributing to the revitalization of a neighbourhood undergoing significant transformation.

Framed by tall built volumes, the alley runs underneath a red metallic structure inspired by woven textiles. Designed by Projet Paysage and executed by Atelier Gris, this aerial framework supports climbing plants that will gradually envelop the space, temper the wind corridor, and create an intimate environment amid the industrial façades.

The mural by Mono Sourcil, completed prior to the landscape intervention, guided the project’s palette. Its warm tones, including the signature red, ochre, and yellow, were adopted and harmonized with the visual identity of District Central. Plantings such as sunflowers and hops introduce living accents within what was once a dull corridor.

Universal furniture, shaded areas, and a small performance platform provide a place for people to pause, whether for lunch or for spontaneous programming. Supported by a network of committed partners, Ruelle L’Oasis offers a thoughtful and sustainable approach to inhabiting urban interstices.
