Outdoor stage enhancing the cultural and artistic life of the city of Terrebonne

A 350th anniversary deserves celebrating. The city of Terrebonne chose to honour it by commissioning Projet Paysage to redevelop Parc Philippe-Villeneuve. The introduction of an outdoor stage solidifies the role of the revitalized urban spot as a neighbourhood hub.

Conveniently located next to the La Plaine library and Odyssée secondary school, the park attracts visitors of all ages. At its heart now stands a raised stage with origami-like shapes, enhancing the cultural and artistic life of the city. The white tones of the cement in the platform are echoed in the paving stones, forming a white to dark grey gradient that deepens until the limits of the park, where the charcoal hues blend with the road. Thanks to a directly connecting bike path and its community location, the site breathes new life into the neighbourhood. Street furniture, including bike racks and countless benches, makes it a welcoming place to stop and rest awhile or gather with friends. By planting trees all around, Projet Paysage has not only greened the public space, but embedded a forward-looking stance in the setting itself, taking the needs of younger and older generations into account. The second phase of the project will be unrolled in fall of 2024 with the addition of a skateboard park and a playful fountain.
