For its 100th anniversary, the Confédération des syndicats nationaux (CSN) benefited from an exterior design worthy of its mission: a unifying agora outside its head office.
CSN’s head office, located in Montréal, required considerable expansion to accommodate its vast team. Enhanced by an open-air park and agora adjacent to its new atrium, it embodies the community spirit behind one of the biggest unions in Québec. Projet Paysage rose to the challenge of transforming a large parking lot into a verdant, inviting gathering place. The new agora, which links the old building to the new extension, seamlessly integrates with a strong architectural vision. It offers a lush contrast with the linearity of the building and pavement through plant life and a grassy slope connecting the two levels. Both the lawn and furniture encourage colleagues to enjoy their lunches, meetings, and breaks in the fresh air and sun. Through the addition of a large garden, accessible to employees and local residents alike, the agora’s design stands as a vivid testament to the company’s deep-rooted commitment to its community.
